The Hermit represents a wise, inspirational person, friend, teacher, therapist. This a person who can shine a light on things that were previously mysterious and confusing.

As soon as I heard it I thought 'It'll be the Kurt Weill'.
I must admit I thought the one who was "waiting in the wings / he speaks of senseless things / his script is you and me, Boy" fitted you pretty well, although I don't see you flexing like a whore and doing the other stuff. :-)
The Piano part was deliberately played a la Stride - so it says on the 30th Anniversary album liner notes.
I have to admit, I don't think I've got a flex left in me these days.
