Notwork
I'd post all sorts of stuff today but my mobile network's data coverage appears to have gone the way of the great wardrobe spider...

Confound it!
Just at the point where I'd resolved to be more diligent in keeping this blog ticking over and keeping tabs on the fine folks in the blogosphere Blogger goes and changes it's configuration. Now, I'll be honest: it was a bit of a pig to do on my mobile 'phone. But not impossible. It's still a bit of a pig to update but the public front end has suddenly changed. It's quite nice really, very cleanly-presented and all that. But the mobile version strips out all the widgets: no archive list, no blogroll, Hell, I can't even log in from here any more. Very perplexing.
So whereas the plan had been to keep up with you all while I was in transit and write posts at home on the laptop I'll be reading from home and writing on the bus. Expect lots of random place names in Bohemia and mad autocorrect errors…

Experiments in sound
I've been wondering why the volume on this laptop keeps slipping from my default setting of Very Quiet Indeed.

Unsettled
You know how everything's fine until you stop moving then the world ploughs into the back of your neck like a ton of bricks? Well that's pretty much how I'm feeling at the moment. Nothing awful or calamitous, just blechh...
I have come to three conclusions:
- Next time my shoulder starts hurting as I'm typing up some notes I should stop. Halt. Cease. Desist.
- Me and Ibuprofen aren't a good combination.
- I need to replace that fire: it looks picturesque enough but an electric fire shouldn't make that noise (it sounds like my neighbour driving his steam roller over the speed humps again) and the living room shouldn't smell like a machine tools foundry.

Virgin on the ridiculous
Consider this gentleman.
He tries to connect to his Virgin Broadband service and his world falls apart around his ears.
Is he checking his email? No. Is he interacting with social networking sites? No. Is he checking the news? Or watching a fillum? e-shopping or engaging with the worl in his rĂ´le as cybercitizen?
No, no, no and no again. There is nothing remotely positive about this man's doings.
Some scenes you just want to watch over and over again

I'm on the train...
The problem with having an enquiring mind is that every so often you have to do things to stop the nagging.
Just in case anyone else was wondering: if you sit on the train with a Mars bar to your ear and utter a stream of banalities (hello? I'm just going past the shops now. Yes. Yes. Oh, I'm sure it was her, she still had the bandages on. Oh yes. No... Ah, right that would be it then, etc.) people assume that you've got a mobile 'phone.
Absent-mindedly eating the "'phone" after the call was probably a subconscious call for attention.
