New balls please

The dress code for The Gabba press box this week states: "Shorts are okay but collared shorts must be worn and no thongs."

Heinous.

The swimwear section's the most eagerly-awaited part of Test Match Special.

Collared shorts? Do they have turn ups?
They were always going on about thongs in Australia and I never knew if they meant on one's feet or one's behind.

Feet, Pat, always feet. Your underwear is nobody's business but your own. Heaven alone knows what collared shorts are though. Probably something you purchase at Mr Fletcher Jones, purveyors of clothes to fuddy-duddy Australians for many, many years.

Feet? Feet? I think somebody's having a laugh at us poor northern folk. ;-)

I'm assuming "collared shirts" means "not T-shirts."

I am not fussed about this negative attitude to thongs. I will simply go commando.
