Sunspots

Much though I get on reasonably well with women on a general level once every so often I'm reminded that they're not like the rest of us. A case in point: freckles.

A chap will see freckles on a lady's face and think how attractive they are. They may even have to make an active effort to avoid the word "cute."

A lady looks in a mirror, sees freckles on her face and slaps on a couple of layers of warpaint to obliterate them from view to make herself look "more attractive."

Not like the rest of us.

Perhaps if more men had the courage to tell their women to remove the slap...? That's it's unnecessary and masks their best bits rather than covering up their perceived blemishes...

It's only in the last couple of months that I've actually had the confidence to stop wearing make-up. Being with a man who thinks Im beautiful no matter what and frequently tells me so... priceless!

I love freckles! And a snaggle tooth, a scar, a bony nose.....

If you have skin which freckles easily - forget about make up and think about protection. From the sun.

Indeed, and most puzzling of all they continue to apply the warpaint long after the war is over.

Joanna: it takes a lot of nerve to tell a woman to remove the slap! Ironically, these days now that I've pretty much given up on romance I find a surprising number are genuinely flattered by a blunt "you look a damned sight better without all that on you." Knowing that in the past would have saved me a couple of blistering arguments!

nursemyra: bless :)

Pat: I'd take sunblock factor thingy over Max Factor any day.

Gadjo: the one thing I have learned is that the war isn't waged with mankind. It's alpha female stuff.

Pat: I think Blogger's playing silly beggars again.
