Pop idol

I remember my sister's first Radio One Annual. It was the year after the Summer Of Love.

There were feature articles on Joe "Mister Piano" Henderson, Bob Monkhouse and Ken Dodd.

On the plus side there were photos of Judy Driscoll and Nancy Sinatra that I can still dredge up from what remains of my memory at the blink of an eye.

"on the plus side"
You said it!

Driscoll's 'Wheels on Fire' was excellent.
I think Ade Edmondson had something to do with it.

On the plus side, what are you saying? Bob Monkhouse is responsible for my all-time favourite joke ('they all laughed when I said I was going to be a comedian, but they're not laughing now')

haha... love that Bob Monkhouse line. And Nancy Sinatra really had it going back then didn't she? I coveted those white boots but my mother wouldn't let me have them :-(

moreidlethoughts: oh yes...

Pat: she sang as well? (-:

zmkc: he was also responsible for the wonderful dialogue:

"As I life and breathe!"

"Two of your less endearing qualities."

nursemyra: you've made up since, though, haven't you?

Gadjo: like I said... (-:

It's looking back at some of the dreadful Top of the Pops albums and realising how bad the music was that depresses me.

Madame DeF: but it's our bad music.

Except, perhaps, Keith Harris and Orville.

And anything 'sung' by Arthur Mullard.
