Luxury...

The new houses that are being built near my parental home are nearly finished now. There's a show home, of course, with all conned mods including, bizarrely, a fountain in the front garden. The fountain is three feet in diameter and four and a half foot tall. The front garden is four by six feet square. The board outside says: "24 luxury spacious 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses."

The footprint of the footings for each house is about the size of my living room.

They're miniaturising everything now, even luxury.

The footprint can be smaller because the bath is in the front yard.

"Conned mods" ...love it!

They specially miniaturise the furniture to make the house look bigger.

That is one teeny garden, or yard, as we call them.

do you use the term downsizing?
With the smaller sizes maybe the new owners will only be allowed miniature dogs.

When the wind blows the water from the fountain is going to be blown in through the back door. They never thought about that, did they.

I hope there's a circular gravel drive around the fountain, so you can pull right up to the front door of the mini-mansion on your trike.

Charlie: I hadn't thought of that. Fiendishly ingenious, these developers.

moreidlethoughts: hello and welcome! And ta for the compliment.

Pat: this is true, we've all seen the Ikea catalogue

willow: it's barely two square yards (-:

lisleman: let's not get me on the subject of downsizing. (-:

They'll have miniature rottweilers.

Gadjo: that's a thought... I don't remember seeing any back doors

Gaw: there's only enough room for wheelies
