Serious question. Is this the Jimmy James after whom the renowned Stalag Luft III Great Escaper Flight Lieutenant Bertram "Jimmy" James ( author of "Moonless Night") was nicknamed? I'd never thought about it until now.

I think not. My understanding is that the escaper's nickname was just a simple play on his surname.

The real name of Jimmy James the comedian was James Casey. He was the father of the James Casey who produced so much of the radio comedy coming from the old Hulme Hippodrome (Jimmy Clitheroe, Les Dawson, etc.)
