Firm but fair

I've just had to enforce the house rules. It's an easy-going establishment with rules that are liberal to the point of laxity but lines must be drawn.

If a spider's stupid enough to spend the afternoon spinning a web across the gas hob on the cooker then it needs to be shown the door. So I've evicted it. Harsh, I know, but it's not even as if it knows how to use the fire extinguisher.

You've shown it the door, have you Kev? Have you shown it the holes in the skirting board, the plugholes in all the sinks and the toilet's overflow pipe as well?

So you cook quite frequently, then?

Gadjo: the lads in the skirting board get quite territorial, I don't think there'll be any bother in that direction.

Ellis: That's the annoying thing: I've hardly cooked this last week, with Sunday breakfast being the first hot meal on site for four days. I reckon the spider was just taking the piss.
