Snow joke

I noticed that HMV were displaying "Scott of the Antarctic" amongst the comedy DVDs on the grounds that it was an Ealing film. I'd just done that touch-think-to-move-it-and-change-your-mind thing when a chap next to me asked:

"Is it any good?"

"You will soil yourself with laughter," I replied.

He asked me for more so I gave him a brief plot synopsis.

"You sick bastard!" he said.

"But it's a classic!" I protested.

Kevs, been drinking, so I adore you, but my dear old father's best friend, Derek Bond, was in SOTA*, can't remember who he played, was it Oates? Bowers? Can't recall. But you are absolutely the most heavenly howlworthy cybershade(+) I know. "Soil yourself laughing" is my new fave-rave phrase de jour. Love you CLdeMP xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
*not to be confused with SOGAT or anything; do you remember them?

"Bring me back a penguin!"

Never seen it. Somebody once suggested that Scott of the Arse Antics could be a gay porn remake of it.

It is difficult for these DVD shop people. They did have some small reason for putting Scott in the comedy section, but there's no reason to put, e.g., Aguirre anywhere that might mislead a member of the public into buying it.

Inkspot. As you know, I will not visit you again, but I reserve the right to castigate you chez les autres.

Herzog found his inspiration for that tour de force after borrowing a book about Aguirre from a friend. He had only read HALF A PAGE when he leapt from his chair completely galvanized, and began writing in the sort of creative frenzy known only to the genius. It is Wagnerian in its scope, and has now been promoted to My Favourite Film (previous holder Monsieur Hire).

I skorn you uterly.

Mrs P: My dear thing, of course I remember SOGAT. My dad was a member back when he worked in commercial printing. Every so often he'd get a bit of holiday cover work on the newspaper presses but that was largely monopolised by NOTSOBER.

You other folk shouldn't be encouraged. (-:
